Traditionally one of the most volatile of all insurance markets, helicopter operators have long suffered with huge variations in premiums, coverage and service.
Due to the background and experience of the group of personnel who came together to form Hayward's back in November 1992, Helicopter insurance has always been a major specialty of Hayward Aviation Ltd. We have, for some years, been the most successful insurance broker of UK helicopters in the London market, where we currently place insurances for approximately 80% of all helicopters on the UK register. Helicopter insurance is a highly specialised field and can produce wildly fluctuating fortunes for participating underwriters. This has often lead in the past to insurers entering and leaving the market within relatively short periods of time, leaving many clients with regularly changing insurers and policy terms.
We have built up a client base of UK and European helicopter operators - ranging from private owner/operators to vast commercial fleets - and have focused on insurers with a reputation for first class service, expertise and a long term business outlook. As a result, we have secured for our clients, stable rates, comprehensive coverage and a claims service for which we have been commended. Helicopters are expensive and by their very nature, high risk items. It is our claims service therefore that we pride ourselves in above all. You want the best premium rates and the widest cover but most of all you want to be happy that should a loss occurr the claim will be dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Most of our clients' policies are insured in the London Market, either placed facultatively or under exclusive Hayward Aviation schemes where our clients can benefit from the competitive rates of premium achiveable due to the weight of premium under Hayward schemes that cater for this high proportion of all UK GA helicopters. The policy wordings are specifically written for helicopter operators and we always strive to provide the widest coverage in this class.
We have a long standing affinity with rotary wing operators and this has helped us identify the needs of our clients.
