In view of the volatile events in Libya and Syria, the situation regarding aviation insurance covers for flights to Libya and Syria is presently uncertain.
Typically all Aviation policies exclude damage (and the consequences of damage) by a malicious act. The Hull aspect of this coverage is written back by purchasing an Aviation Hull War Policy (LSW555D). The Liability aspect of the cover is written back by purchasing an AVN52 clause within your standard liability insurance programme.
Unfortunately Insurers reaction to this situation is varied with some insurers making no comment whilst others are charging for the increased risk and are considering the notifications (and agreement) of flights to Libya and Syria as "material" to coverage.
You should also be aware that your other insurance polices, including employers liability and travel insurance covers may impose certain restrictions or requirements for staff travelling to Libya and Syria. Please contact your usual Account Handler at Hayward Aviation Ltd who will be able to advise you on these matters.
If you are considering operations into/around Libya and Syria over the next few days please contact us with full details as to the flights you are planning to undertake, the airport you are going to, the passengers you are collecting and the security you have employed. We will then be able to advise as to cover and any possible additional costs.
Please be assured that Hayward Aviation Ltd is actively discussing the situation with Underwriters and we will update this website with further information, as it become available.
