We have been inundated with enquires regarding the insurance position if losses occur as a result of damage from the Volcanic Ash Cloud currently covering the UK and near Europe.
In answer to the question, are we covered? We can only point to the below extract from the conditions precedent on virtually all insurance policies and this states that;
- 'The Insured shall at all times use due diligence and do and concur in doing everything reasonably practicable to avoid accidents and to avoid or diminish any loss hereon.
- The Insured shall comply with all air navigation and airworthiness orders and requirements issued by any competent authority affecting the safe operation of the aircraft...'
As with any flight plan please take into consideration advice provided by the CAA, NATS and the Met Office before making the decision to fly. The responsibility for this is yours.
Also at all times the flight must be legal as any illegal use will render the coverage invalid.
